Happy music Saturday!
Ahh today. Last night was the best ever! I'm a little tired but feeling fresh. Yes I'm a little hungover haha. But It is really nice outside and beach house came on on my drive home so I thought it would be the perfect way to start the day. There is really no band that is more perfect than this.
I could listen to them forever.. I haven't found a beach house song I don't like yet.

ODD FUTURE
Odd Future. Ok.. where the heck do I start? There has been alot of talk recently about odd future and I decided that I need to get into the loop. The experience i've had searching for their music has been challenging, scatterbrained, and tenaciously difficult. I've come over an interesting mix of mixtapes, random freestyle videos and the like..and I don't think they have any 'official' music videos as of yet. But needless to say I wasn't impressed in the beginning, but once I found thier blog.. WOW. It's just as dilapdated as the search for them but at least you can see thier stuff.. lol. I really do think these guys emanate culture.. They EXPRESS themselves to the fullest extent! Ah it's really hard to pin them down.. You'll just have to see for yourself. If I could describe their music in one word, I would say it's 'amazing'. I would also say that It's easy for me(and maybe alot of people) to see eye to eye with them.
Odd future is a group of kids from Los Angeles that hang out, skateboard, and pretty much live and have lived as reckless teenagers. Esquire magazine described them as "the most belligerent, psychotic, damaged, and mischievous teenagers you've never wanted to meet" and their music involves themes that would be percieved as 'higly rebellious' to say the least. Thier music is described as: "obscure".. and They recently became famous after they appeared on jimmy fallon in february.. After reading up on them I decided I like some of their ideas on 'greatness' etc. This video is very interesting.. It has some music clips on the interview as well.
Enjoy!

The xx - Teardrops
The XX are amazing. I haven't gotten the chance to see them in concert yet but I'm sure I will soon. This is one of their first popular songs:
LOL
The reason I'm posting this is not because of "hi****s" it's because I find it absolutely genius and culturally relevant. I don't believe in that word, and find it ironic in itself that people even use it. I think the h word destroys individuality. This video is hilarious and thought provoking, and you may come up with your own interpretation of it.. these guys just omit genius every day and in every video. It doesn't matter if I'm making sense or not I just put this up for some thought provoking humor.
Memory Tapes
I love memory tapes and heard them again the other day so I decided to share this with you. They have such a cool sound and their music is great for anything really:

Glasser |
Yacht |
So i'm kindof a fan of glasser.. They were at SXSW so I'm posting this as part of a showcase for the events i'll be posting over the next few weeks.(to let yall know what you missed out on lol) They had a show at a church--Central Presbyterian (vegetarian?) in austin which sounds sweet.. I watched one of the videos the other day and they are sooo wierd lol. Glasser and Yacht are just two of those bands you just know their music goes hand in hand. They teamed up with Yacht for this remix..

Toro Y Moi, Underneath the Pine
The album begins with a ghostly whisper. as it continues, moroccas, blended beats and silent grooves emerge to kick off the album. You start to appreciate it's beginnings when the second song rolls in, with it's furious-funky attitude. It instantly makes you crave a Brooklyn beauty bar, or some tiny overcrowded lounge in the heart of downtown somewhere.. dancing with those girls with bangs and with a 50's doo.. with an obnoxious jewelry collection to match...You devil you.
Toro Y Moi "New Beat" by carparkrecords
The rest of the album puts you in other places too.. He put the song "divina" an instrumental song that makes you feel like you're chillaxin' on a summer day. Toro's music isn't made to just sit there and mull about your life. Dance around! Get happy! Everything's gonna be alright. Find it hard to take Toro's music seriously? That's because it shouldn't! So put your dancing shoes on, your best outfit.. and get off your feet! Enjoy.

Toro y Moi - Thanks Vision
Just a quick starter. I'm about to do an album review on his new cd, underneath the pine, but for the moment I decided to play another one of his earlier songs to start the day. Enjoy!
